Mocha Latte

So my doctor just gave me a few herbal tonics to help balance my thyroid, increase my hemoglobin, and reduce inflammation. I'm supposed to mix all three of them into juice or water and drink.  To be honest, they don't taste that great and they kind of make me gag unless I hold my nose. So, I'm trying to come up with drinks that would compliment/mask the flavor of the tonics.  I just came up with this delicious mocha latte recipe! You can use this recipe even if you don't have the herbs. The cacao and maca powder provide lots of minerals to support bone density and metabolic processes. The maca is an adaptogenic herb, which means that it helps the body adapt to environmental stress.

**1 teaspoon maca powder

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend on high for about 1 minute. Warm over the stove if you are not using a vitamix blender. Enjoy!

  1. I like your creative and yummy way to get these tonics into your system. Funny coincidence, yesterday I bought dandelion root tea and have just started on it. Fingers crossed for some liver and gallbladder detoxifying ~ have been feeling like I need it. I'm also going to try making a juice with beetroot, as I keep reading it's a good detoxifier.
I have a raw chocolate with maca powder~this seems like a good excuse to have some :)
Thanks again for your emails, I hope you're enjoying the sun over there. We didn't get any snow here, but a nice big frost this morning. I'm sipping green tea with ginger at the moment, nice and warming!

  2. hey kate! Yay for superfood "cocktails"! I hope you enjoy it. And I hope you get some snow soon! I always miss the winter in the middle of summer. I guess that's natural. We want what we can't have.
The beet juice sounds good. We have beets coming out of our ears in the garden, so I'll be making more this month I'm sure.
